Terms of Use

Effective 13 August 2026

These terms govern your use of the RowTally app and this website. By installing or using RowTally, you accept them. If you do not accept them, please do not use the app.

Placeholders below marked [[ … ]] must be completed before publishing, and this draft should be reviewed by a lawyer in your jurisdiction. It is not legal advice.

2. What RowTally is

RowTally is a row counter and project tracker for crochet and knitting, available for iPhone and iPad running iOS 26.0 or later. It works offline and does not require an account.

We describe what the app does on this website as accurately as we can. Features can change between versions, and the current feature set is whatever the version you have installed actually does — not what an older page may say.

3. Your licence to use the app

We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use RowTally on devices you own or control, for your own private or commercial craft work. Apple's Licensed Application End User Licence Agreement also applies to your download and sits alongside these terms.

You may not:

4. Free version and Premium

The free version of RowTally lets you create one project, with the main row counter plus one additional stitch counter. Every counting feature is included and there is no advertising anywhere in the app.

RowTally Premium removes both limits: unlimited projects and unlimited stitch counters per project. It is sold as an auto-renewing subscription at $3.99 per month or $24.99 per year, charged in your local currency at the price the App Store shows you before you confirm.

We may change the price or the contents of the free and paid tiers for future purchases. Changes will not reduce what you have already paid for during a billing period that has already started, and Apple will ask you to confirm any price increase before it takes effect.

5. Your data is on your device

RowTally stores your projects and counts locally on your device and does not upload them to us. Two consequences are worth stating clearly:

How we handle the small amount of data we do receive is described in our privacy policy.

6. The counter is a tool, not a guarantee

RowTally is designed to record every tap immediately, and we test it for exactly that. But it runs on a device we do not control, alongside an operating system that can close apps, and no software is faultless. You remain responsible for your own craft work.

For anything where a lost count would be expensive — a commission, a sample for publication, a garment on a deadline — treat the app as one record and not the only one. Stitch markers in the fabric cost nothing and survive a flat battery.

7. Content you enter

Your project names, notes and photos remain yours. Because they never reach us, we claim no rights over them and cannot moderate, review or access them.

If you send us a feature suggestion through the app or this website, you allow us to use it to improve RowTally without owing you payment or credit. You keep any rights you have in the idea itself.

8. Our intellectual property

The RowTally name, logo, app design, screenshots and the text on this website belong to us or our licensors. The comparison pages on this site refer to other companies' apps and trade marks for the purpose of factual comparison; those marks remain the property of their respective owners and we claim no affiliation with them.

9. Availability and changes

We aim to keep RowTally working and updated, but we do not promise uninterrupted availability. We may change, suspend or discontinue features, or the app as a whole. If we discontinue the app while you hold an active subscription, we will stop future renewals and tell you before your next billing date.

The app depends on Apple's App Store and, for subscription checks, on RevenueCat. Outages at either can affect whether Premium features unlock, even though your counting continues to work offline.

10. Warranty and liability

RowTally is provided as it is. Beyond what the law requires, we make no warranty that it will be free of errors or fit for a particular purpose.

Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law — including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for intent and gross negligence. If you are a consumer, your statutory rights are unaffected by these terms.

Subject to that, our liability for slight negligence is limited to breaches of material contractual obligations, and to the damage typically foreseeable for this kind of agreement. We are not liable for lost row counts, lost project data, or wasted yarn or working time. [[Have this clause checked: enforceable wording for liability limits differs by jurisdiction, and consumer law in the EU restricts what can be excluded.]]

11. Right of withdrawal

If you are a consumer in the EU or UK, you have a statutory right to withdraw from a distance contract within 14 days. Because Premium is purchased from Apple, that right is exercised through Apple under Apple's terms, and Apple's own refund process applies. [[Confirm the wording with your lawyer, and add a model withdrawal form if your jurisdiction requires you to provide one.]]

12. Ending your use

You can stop using RowTally at any time by deleting the app, and cancel a subscription through the App Store as described above. We may suspend your use of the app if you seriously breach these terms — for example by attempting to circumvent the paid tier or attack our infrastructure.

13. Governing law and disputes

These terms are governed by the law of the Slovak Republic, excluding its conflict-of-law rules and the UN Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods. If you are a consumer, you keep the protection of the mandatory law of the country where you live, and you may bring proceedings in the courts there.

For business customers, the place of jurisdiction is Bratislava, Slovakia. [[Consumers in Slovakia can also use alternative dispute resolution — confirm with your lawyer which ADR body to name, and whether an EU-level dispute-resolution reference is still required, since the European Commission's ODR platform was wound down.]]

14. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as the app changes or the law requires. The current version is always on this page with its effective date. If a change materially reduces your rights, we will point it out rather than relying on you noticing a new date.
